Life-sized Self Portrait
Life-sized Self Portrait
3'x8'
Charcoal on Paper
My self-portrait depicts two characters, both of which are me. While holding a mirror and standing in front of another larger mirror, I see my image reflected on multiple surfaces, and start to question my existence and the dimension I am in — which one is the reflection, which one is the “real” me, and how can I tell the difference between real and virtual images? The plastic bags on the characters establish a sense of continuity between them, while providing a sense of entrapment.
